Battling Negativity.
Teens face a variety of problems, and sometimes it can feel as though adults don't understand what we're going through, even though they were once in our shoes. We believe our experience is worst than theirs! We have been struggling to go to school and learn during a pandemic (COVID-19) that no one has ever experienced. This is extremely difficult for the majority of students, and if you succeed, that is fantastic. Is it just me or has anyone felt like they got dumber over the past year? Well, Google has become my best friend, I am trying to do my best, but honestly, I don't feel like it's enough with how things are going.
There are different types of learners, and the environment influences whether or not we succeed. I believe that mental health is affecting us more than ever, with being isolated during this rough time and facing other challenges. Other than that, I keep hearing teachers saying,” don't give up because you are graduating soon and looking towards college and shaping your careers.” Do they understand how we are feeling as students? I feel pressured, anxious, sometimes depressed as the stress is on!
Please, they say they understand but do they? Frankly, I'm not sure if they do, for I'm dying under the weight of all the tasks and attempting to keep up with what they're teaching, as well as trying not to disappoint myself or my parents and it's really a lot of pressure. I have heard how as parents that they had it hard too, some a lot harder. They wrote diaries or spoke to their friends. We can talk to each other, scream out loud even though people may say you are crazy, cry in your pillow, try to talk to someone close, another teen, parent/guardian, or a sibling. It’s okay to feel alone sometimes but hope for a brighter day. I have realized that even though some of us try to put in the effort, it's like we are still failing, try a different approach, be optimistic, feed your mind with positive things!
I am honestly motivated because I had someone who radiated positivity, and not everyone has a person like that. It's like I'm carrying a weight on my shoulders that’s saying, “Hey if you drop me you fail”, so hold me up even if it hurts, and right now failure is not even an option, even though it happens once in a while sadly. But that's life; failures are unavoidable, but they ultimately strengthen us and make us more determined to succeed in life.
But that's all for this week. Muse Out!
